  • The radio informer unveils it new site using the utilities site that the radio informer had all it links and info on. Now that has been combined with the news that you would see on the original radio informer site.It gives better navigation with items on seperate pages. It is a long web address to the site which is http://www.freewebs.com/theradioinformerutilities so a shorter url is made for you http://shortlink.co.uk/p90 this will direct you to the new radio informer site.Best to put the link in your favourites/bookmarks.The old site http://theradioinformer.blogspot.com/ will still be up might not be updated as much but will still have archive news items on it. Thanks.

    Gone! But Not Forgotten.
Radio stations come and go.We hear them one day but next they have gone.
Check out the sites from stations that no longer are around.

    Radio ST Helena
Noted from the site reason for closing:

"This may be the last time I write a piece concerning our World-wide Transmission for the Radio St. Helena Web Page.
It is rather sad but true that on 23rd October 1999 Radio St. Helena will broadcast to the world for the last time. The story behind this is that the company who owns the Transmitter that is used for our shortwave broadcasts, Cable & Wireless PLC, stationed at the Briars, St. Helena, has decided to dispose of this particular piece of equipment because of its age and the unavailability of spare parts. It is being replaced by a small transceiver to operate at a short distance and cannot be used for the same purpose of transmitting to the world."

    Atlantic 252 longwave
This is a tribute site for the irish station that broadcast across the uk on 252 longwave but reception during the night was not good.

Reason for closing down: taken from their faq page:
    "What Happened To Atlantic 252?
Atlantic 252 closed down in December 2001 after the parent company sold the station to sports station TEAMTALK."

so promps the next station teamtalk 252
teamtalk wasn't on for long really not having much sport and also there was and still is a talksport station with live sport on 1053/1089 am talkSport which goes out across the uk.
