Mr. Tetro will be measuring frequency response, THD, and IMD products of WNTP while running full power on the day time antenna. If time permits, he will repeat these tests using the standard 10kw night pattern. This is not a DX test. There will be no Morse Code ID's, and frequently there will be "dead air". It is hoped that DX'ers will be able to hear some of the tones, especially those in the 2-4khz range. Tones will be transmitted at four modulation levels: 95%, 75%, 50%, and 25%. Rene has also agreed to run some limited phonetic voice ID's. These will be a high pitched female voice, identifying the station in phonetics. THIS IS WNTP PERFORMING TRANSMITTER TESTING. WNTP. RSGB proposes new 500 kHz amateur frequency allocation
credit: http://medianetwork.blogspot.com RSGB proposes new 500 kHz amateur frequency allocation The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) has made a proposal for radio amateurs in the UK to have access to frequencies between 501 and 504, or 508 and 515kHz, at a transmit level of 10W EIRP. The allocation, if accepted, would extend amateurs' experimental work on other low and medium frequencies and thus aid understanding of propagation in those parts of the spectrum. The two frequency band options are proposed as they are no longer used for maritime telegraphy in the Western hemisphere and their usage for non-directional aeronautical beacons is being phased out. It is understood that it is unlikely, in the near future, that the channels will be re-allocated to another service. Further details of the RSGB proposal can be found on the Spectrum Forum website.
