Radio Caroline returns for Easter
credit: http://www.radiocarolinenews.blogspot.com
Following on from the highly successful 'Restricted Service Licence' broadcast done from the Ross Revenge, plans are afoot for the real Radio Caroline (not some people in Bristol pretending they are Radio Caroline) to broadcast again for Easter and next August. Both times are significant for Radio Caroline, as it is important to celebrate the beginning of free radio in the UK. Radio Caroline started broadcasting in Easter 1964, and was attacked by the British Government (especially the DTI) in August 1967 and 1989. The search is on for sponsors to pay for the Easter broadcasts. The Lottery grant used to pay for the broadcasts from Tilbury was used up in August, but the Lottery people may have more money they can give Radio Caroline, because lots of people buy tickets every week. Sometimes people buy lottery tickets twice a week. This is because you have to be in it to win it.There is also some confusion over rules from the Government about when Radio Caroline can broadcast. We are informed that if a broadcast goes ahead for Easter, then one in August may not be allowed. This may be a deliberate Government policy to stop Caroline from rising to its previous standing within the listening community of the United Kingdom. filed by http://RadioCarolineNews.blogspot.com |

High power fm pirate broadcasting to the Netherlands silenced/Radio caroline at 19.2 degrees

High power FM pirate broadcasting to the Netherlands silenced This weekend, the pirate radio station Koning, Keizer, Admiraal has been broadcasting a high power FM signal into the Netherlands on 97.0 MHz. The broadcasts were coming from a 100 metre mast just over the border in Gildehaus, Germany, with a power of 11 kW, and the intention was to broadcast continuously for the whole weekend. However, the station's Website reports that it was taken off the air at 1355 UTC today, after 15 German police cars and some Dutch police arrived at the transmitter site. # posted by Andy @ 14:13 UTC Radio Caroline now available at 19.2 degrees East UK satellite broadcaster Radio Caroline is now available on the Astra 2C satellite at 19.2 degrees East in addition to the existing slot on the Eurobird at 28.2 East. A statement on the station's Website reads:Radio Caroline is pleased to announce that after lengthy discussions with our friends at Technisat Germany, Radio Caroline is now test broadcasting a full time service on Astra 2C at 19.2degrees. The tuning details at this time are; Frequency 10832 Horizontal, SR22000, FEC 2/3 ***SID 61966*** This is the stated FEC but we are getting reception at FEC 4/5. The new service is provided by Technisat and Caroline is the first of a selection of specialist radio stations that will ultimately become available as a package. Technisat tell us that the signal will be maintained through Christmas and the New Year but that the signal may be down at times from mid January 2005, while additional equipment is installed. Further details will follow shortly. The signal is currently free to air, but the phrase "ultimately become available as a package" suggests that it may be encrypted for subscribers at some future date. # posted by Andy @ 08:39 UTC |
