REM Island officially up for sale
credit: http://medianetwork.blogspot.com In a move that will start a flurry of excitement and rumours in free radio circles, the Dutch Government's Department of Public Works has announced that REM Island is officially up for sale, according to media site RadioFreak.nl. REM Island was built in 1964 by offshore broadcaster Reclame Exploitatie Maatschappij, the organisation that subsequently became public broadcaster TROS. In recent years the artificial platform, off the coast of Noordwijk, had been used by the Department of Public Works as a base for carrying out marine investigations and measurements. But it's now surplus to requirements, and the Department says it will be dismantled if nobody wants it. Read our story of REM Island: Dismantling history # posted by Andy @ 09:25 UTC |

Ruud Poeze test tone 1584 khz mw monday 6:00pm uk time.
According to anorak nation's email anorak digest : Ruud poeze transmitter from the netherlands will air a test tone on 1584 khz mw at 6:00pm uk time. Those in s.e england/london may find that London Turkish Radio broadcasts on that frequency as well. Previous Ruud Poeze Article: Dutch mediumwave licence holder Ruud Poeze is currently broadcasting test programming from the transmitter at Utrecht on 1584 kHz with increased power. Sources here say it is now 600 watts. The signal is now listenable in the Hilversum area, though not very strong, and has been reported on the East coast of the UK. It isn't yet known whether regular programming is planned on this frequency. A new vertical mast was recently installed at the transmitter site, so this may just be an antenna test. |
