Power Broadcasting: a hoax
This News Item From: http://medianetwork.blogspot.com Power Broadcasting: a hoax We've now received information confirming our suspicion that a website claiming to belong to "Power Broadcasting", and asking for money to build a shortwave station in Papua New Guinea and reactivate the Iraqi shortwave site at Salah el Deen, is indeed a hoax. The item which we published on Saturday about this has now been removed - however, we will be happy to cooperate with anyone investigating this matter, in the hope of identifying the individual(s) concerned. Please send any relevant messages to media@rnw.nl and do not post information as a comment in the Weblog. Thank you. |

Radio Slovak International saved -- for the time being
![]() credit: http://medianetwork.blogspot.com Radio Slovak International saved -- for the time being Thursday, July 21 2005 The intention to close down Radio Slovakia's shortwave services has been stopped. The general director of Slovak Radio, Jaroslav Reznik, has confirmed that Radio Slovakia Internationa will not stopp broad- casting on shortwave -- for the time being. The law dealing with Slovak radio states that finance should be provided from the state budget for foreign service broadcasting. However the current Culture Minister questions this part of the law. Due to the unclear interpretation of the financing of the station, the Slovak Culture Minister Frantisek Toth has initiated a legal analysis of the situation. Thus the supervisory body of Slovak Radio has concluded that for now they will have to wait for Parliament and the Government to solve the current deficit of over EUR 8 million for the Radio. |
