Flevoland 747 kHz to be off air overnight Tuesday/Wednesday
credit: http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/ Flevoland 747 kHz to be off air overnight Tuesday/Wednesday July 9th, 2006, 11:32 UTC by Andy Dutch transmission provider Nozema Services advises that the mediumwave transmitter in Flevoland on 747 kHz will be off the air for maintenance from Tuesday 11 July at 2130 UTC till Wednesday 12 July at 0300 UTC. This maintenance will not affect Radio 10 Gold on 1008 kHz. Radio 747 may remain on the air using the 40 kW backup transmitter at Lopik, but that isn’t strictly necessary as the station will be relaying Radio 1 throughout the maintenance period. |

AFN Radio To End Sports Play-By-Play
The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced that the American Forces Network (AFN) will cease broadcasting play-by-play sports on radio later this summer. The DoD says the decision is based on a series of worldwide audience surveys which showed a preference to watch sports, rather than just listen to them. According to the DoD, the impact of live sports on overseas local affiliate radio schedules was also factored into the decision. This is, to me, very sad as it is the end of an era. I had noticed that its baseball coverage has decreased considerably this year. Credit: http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/ |
